A developed community living in harmony with a sustainably conserved Echuya Central Forest Reserve by 2032.
i) To promote sustainable utilization of forest resources; ii) To promote income generating activities at HH level; iii) To promote environmental conservation at community level; iv) To build the capacity of KADECA to perform its functions.
a) Carryout regulated access to selected resources in designated areas in Echuya CFR;
b) Enhance and conduct forest protection activities to control illegal activities;
c) Tree planting, domestication of bamboo and valuable plants such as medicinal plants that
d) Restoration of degraded areas
e) Utilize energy saving cook stoves at household level to reduce fire wood consumption;
f) Participate in eco-tourism activities in Echuya CFR;
g) Zone the forest for various activities;
h) Demarcate the forest boundary to guard against encroachment
i) Conduct awareness creation on sustainable conservation and utilization of forestry resources.
a) Establishment and management of community tree nurseries;
b) Climate-smart agriculture employing agroforestry, establishment of water retention trenches and terraces and manure application
c) Fruit growing (mangoes, passion fruits etc);
d) Livestock rearing (Diary cattle, goats, piggery, sheep) through zero grazing and growing of fodder;
e) Bee keeping, value addition to bee products and marketing;
f) Mushroom growing
g) Provision of extension services and technical in aspects related to agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry and bee keeping;
h) Businesses in produce especially targeting the youth;
i) Building skills in crafts making for women and youth on crafts making (carvings, baskets etc);
j) Skills development/training for youth and women in forestry and non-forestry aspects.
k) Promote eco-tourism activities such as management of campsite and cultural sites and caves for Batwa; cultural music, dance and drama; story-telling; porters and tour guiding; craft making
l) Promotion of village saving and loans associations;
m) Seek for casual employment in Echuya CFR such as weeding, pruning, bamboo harvesting.
a) Tree planting on private land (Eucalyptus, avocado);
b) Protect and manage wetlands to enable them supply craft materials, water and other resources; c) Promote use of energy saving stoves;
d) Put in place Soil and water conservation interventions to control soil erosion and maintain soil fertility;
e) Promote agroforestry through integration in soil and water conservation structures
f) Put in place pits for safe disposal and recycling of domestic waste for production of manure;
g) Conducting awareness and sensitization on environmental conservation.
a) Mobilize financial resources to run the association
i) From internal sources through payments of membership and subscription fees
ii) Mobilization for increased membership especially Batwa, youth and women
iii) Through financial support from other organizations iv) From SACCO Development;
v) Management of the campsite and other group income generating projects;
b) Conduct Capacity building for KADECA members in
i) Community dynamics and leadership skills;
ii) Financial management including (record keeping);
iii) Business skills;
iv) Lobbying and Advocacy;
v) Resource mobilization;
vi) Project management skills;
vii) Conflict management skills;
viii) Technical aspects of forestry, land management and climate smart agriculture;
c) Put in place other sub-committees to ensure effective implementation of activities
a.Ensure democratic governance within the CBO;
i) Conduct periodic elections as per the KADECA constitution;
ii) Ensure representativeness in the leadership of KADECA at various levels by including Women, youth, men, elders, people with disabilities and resource users;
d) Network with other CFM groups and development agencies;
e) Link KADECA to other government development programmes;
e) Conduct regular committee and general meetings for planning and sharing of information;
g) Develop management systems within KADECA e.g. Reporting, Budgeting, Accountability, records
h) Ensure that the CBO has an official address (physical location, post office number, email if possible)
i) Having a functional bank account;
j) Prepare and implement a strategic plan to guide all its operations;
